A friend I met through online running forums told me about FitDay, and I wanted to pass the tip along.
FitDay offers a free online diet and food log on its website.
Registering for a free account gives you access to a detailed food logging tool, including pre-set nutritional information for hundreds of foods, including well-known brand names. The tool also allows you to create "custom foods" and save nutritional info.
After choosing/creating a food, you can add it to your "foods eaten today" list, and adjust the serving quantity/size as needed. The log will track total calories consumed in a day, calories from fat, protein, and carbs, and so forth.
But FitDay's online tool is a lot more than a food diary. Your account also gives you access to:
The company offers these excellent online tools in order to give you a taste of what their desktoop software includes. I haven't been tempted to buy the software yet -- the online tools are so comprehensive, I don't feel like I need the software at this point.
